Good to read your write-up! Whereabouts did you stay on the Karl-Marx-Allee?
We always stay a bit further up this road, near Samariter Strasse and am ashamed to say that we've never walked further down the street beyond Frankfurter Tor. keep meaning to, but the weather is always too cold to contemplate it! :-) This time I have booked my birthday brunch at a bar near Strausberger Platz, so hangover permitting, might try to walk there from our hotel!
