Not dead yet

Okay, so you know how most people find summer to be a time when they can get all their projects done? Not so with me. Summer is my busy season. Any season that kids are out of school is my busy season. It's been 3 months since I had any alone time to do anything. I'm talking zero time when there isn't another person in the room with me, ( Read more... )

The month of August I ended up with three jobs and dealing with a hurricane. Needless to say it was nuts.

September looks a bit calmer. I'll be headed to the Louisiana Renaissance Festival grounds next weekend to help in the clean up of the standing buildings. During said hurricane mentioned above, the grounds were über flooded. I may not be good at lifting heavy objects, but give me a bucket, some rubber gloves, and some bleach and I'll scrub black mold off walls like a boss.

I hear you about the kids. Summer is definitely NOT vacation for the mom. And writing once those nosy little buggers are leaning over your shoulder is totally inhibiting. I've begun turning the text to a shade of gray that's almost white (my neighbor suggested it) so you can barely see it from a foot away, and whoever's walking behind you won't get an eyeful. That way, when you've got a sentence that says something about hot cocks, or wet mouths, your twelve-year-old isn't going to repeat that around the neighborhood! I don't have a suggestion for when they jerk you out of the zone, though.

I'm glad to hear you'll be writing more, though. Welcome back.

Hey thats a great idea about the text color, i might steal that myself haha. To velvet mace-no worries on the delay dear. I love your chameleon story, but I really cant blame you for any delays when your a mom. I dont even have kids and sometimes I feel like i dont have enough time for hobbies. And i would also love to read your teen wolf fic! :-)

Go ahead: you're welcome! I'll tell Mr. Alex his idea is being passed around on the internet, that ought to give him a thrill. And certainly I've found that the (nearly) invisible text gives me a lot less headache than the teensy tiny font size option.

Yes, and mine are old enough to read, which makes it even worse. My eyes are not very good anymore -- I keep adjusting my glasses to try to get them to work better, so making the text difficult to read is not something I can do. But I don't really want my 10 year old reading mommy writing non-con of all things. Maybe if I was writing sweetness and light romances or something, it would be better, but man, that's not a part of mommy I want her knowing about quite yet. Ew.

Well at least you're writing! And you finished Collared, which is more than I've freaking done this summer!

(I just wrote 1500 words too, but is it on any of the fics I am in the middle of? No, of course not. OF COURSE NOT.)

I did finish Collared. I'm so proud. And it came out basically the way I thought it would.

I sometimes find that the enthusiasm of starting a new project can kick me off to writing after I've fallen out of the habit. That's why I had 3 fucking WIPs going. Once I get mired in one, I switch to the other and it rejuvenates me.

Yes! :D I am proud on your behalf also. ;)

That's true. Perhaps a new project will help me. Gets frustrating when you can't seem to get yourself to work on anything...heh.

Welcome back! Huzzah on getting back on the writing bandwagon...hopefully some more Chameleon?

Yeah, little inquisitive eyes over ones shoulder would end up being bad for writing...eep.

Oh yea! You got sucked into it too. It's surprisingly good. I was never much for werewolves before, but I've been totally sold here. It hooks into a surprising amount of my id's happy spots.

Will you be writing for it?
