Anime Series Recc: Le Chevalier D'Eon

I just finished watching the 2nd DVD of Le Chevalier D'Eon and wow... just freaking wow. I rec this series so damn much, I do. I've only seen the first 8 episodes (of 24) but everything I've read says that it stays consistantly this good to the end.

I've seen the whole series through the fansubs, and you're absolutely right on all counts. I love the way the plot plays with its historical characters and events, especially how it deals with Robespierre.

The show was produced by Proguction IG, better known as the Studio behind all the various incarnations of Ghost in the Shell, and they're known for that more realistic style. The animation in the later episodes isn't always up to par (you can tell parts were farmed out to other studios) but they deliver when it really counts.

I'll be sitting on the spoilers and keeping my mouth shut (and silently hoping someone out there shares my inexplicble urge to slash Louis XV with everything that moves).

Louis XV is highly slashable. He is smart enough, devious enough, and powerful enough, that I honestly can't think of anyone who he can't get in his bed.

Too bad about the art being farmed out, but you know I can't complain. This is a really high standard to maintain.

I wish the next DVD would come out soon.

This is a series I've really been looking forward too. I've only seen a few episodes so it's nice to hear it stays as amazing as it's been so far. I should go watch more now. ^^
