We haven't played any of the earlier .hack games -- are they for the PS2? That's the only format we could play them. I haven't been able to watch any of the anime or anything else either -- so yeah we are jumping into the middle -- but it works.

Yes, the earlier .hack games are for the ps2 as well. In order, they are: Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, Quarantine. Really good to play first before GU. :D

I used to be addicted to my playstation, but lately I haven't had the time...okay so that's a lie. I haven't been able to sit myself in front of the tv to play it, yet have no qualms over sitting nearby the laptop in order to piddle around online. (Although, this will soon change.)
So, I haven't personally played any of them, but I like the idea and what I've seen while hanging out with Tim.

Though it's not an OMG!PERFECT game like alot of people are saying, I think it's wonderful; the GU series is the best out there so far ^^ At least, that's what I think. Haseo is such a little bitch, but that makes it better; more original character personalities, rather than the I'm-going-to-save-the-day-even-if-I'm-raped attitude.

I don't know, I think you have to see all the way to the very end of the third game to fully appreciate it all. The plot gets so much thicker with each volume ^^
