You can sign up for sgabigbang 2008 now. The rules and sign-up post is hereI've just signed up, so I guess I'll be writing another long John/Rodney fic. I'll wait for the season finale to see which prompt I'll take. Right now there isn't one that screams "Write me", although a few sound interesting ( Read more... )

Yes to beta, yes to cheerleading. I clicked on that dreaded "here" and had a look around - had to click out in a hurry before I did something really, really stupid ;D

Are you going for it this year?

Well, you do tend to write quite a lot. So I think you could manage. But I can understand if you'd rather not pressure yourself after your April deadline.

In any case thank you for agreeing to beta and cheerlead :)

I'm with you on this...I'll wait until after the season finale airs and then will go see what inspires me from the list of prompts :-)

I do have a couple of other challenge fics to finish first...so I'd best get working on them!

The action figures of John are adorable - love his smirk :-D

I'll probably write an old unwritten idea of mine as a post s4 story. But I'll wait and see what the finale brings and I think I'll try to consider some other prompts two and maybe make some short outlines to see which one is most likely to work out as such a long fic.

I've ordered both Johns and Elizabeth and the Wraith, too. I want that gate! And also they gave Elizabeth John's book (for whatever reason)...

Yeah... I had to go buy all of them AND send away for Steve the Blue-faced Wraith :-D

I had a quick check down the prompt list and nothing leaped out like it did last year but that's probably because I have other stories on my mind right now. Got to finish this psychic_snakes story, then I owe a Mensa!Au and a literal_sga fic!

I didn't sign up for anything lately to avoid burn-out. I'm not really comfortable with the idea of fic exchanges (actually no, not the idea, more having to write for one specific person. It's a lot more pressuring than a deadline.), but I have to admit there was one summary on literal_sga that caught my eye: 48. Wife for Hire. It's the one with the fake marriage and I love that trope and I'm sort of itching to write it. May 13th is a reasonable deadline and it's only 1000 words minimum length although I fear writing this would easily get into 8000 words range if not more. So I'm still waiting and seeing if the decision is taken out of my hands, because somebody else snatches that prompt. Actually I'm surprised nobody has so far.

Great! I'm really looking forward to another great, long story from you. Last year's Every Day in Every Way was one of my favorites in the Big Bang, and it was where I "discovered" you.

Actually, I had read some of your stories previously and had liked them. The Big Bang was where I specifically took note of who you are, and what made you stand out from that whole ton of OTHER wonderful SGA fanfic writers. (Um, in case that came out awkwardly, it is intended to be a heartfelt compliment.)

Awww. Thank you very much :)

I tend to write short to mid-length stories, so this was quite an accomplishment for me and I'm really glad that it was so well-received. I hope to live up to it in the next Big Bang. Of course first I have to think about what to write. I have one good old idea that I'm considering, but I'll watch "The Last Man" and then go over the prompts again and see if I can maybe think of several possible fics in more detail before settling on one and then writing like mad ;)

I'm so glad you taking part again - I *loved* your entry last year! I've taken the plunge as well and am now beset with nerves! Still, it sounds like so much fun I couldn't resist. Also, would you mind if I friended you? Thanks! cep xxx

I don't mind at all :)

40,000 words really is a challenge (for me, and I suppose many others as well), but it's a great feeling to get it done. I did a thorough outline beforehand and that really helped with knowing I would reach the word count and gave me a clear idea of each "chapter". It helps to know who is POV character, what the scene accomplishes in their relationship and the context of the rest of the fic.

I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you for the advice! The word limit is a bit daunting - still, the longest fic I've written was almost 37K, so I'm hoping with enough time, encouragement and dedication I can get to 40K. It's all about getting the central plot sorted, isn't it. I've had some ideas, so will plan as you suggest. I wish you the best of luck too and look forward to reading your contribution! *hugs* cep xxx
