Awwwwwwww. :D This is one of my favorite little moments in canon, and I love how you've written it here - El's frustration with her relatives, and her understanding how Peter wants to take responsibility and fix things and make her happy, and recognizing that the ceremony isn't the important part. And the idea of Peter and his father and the phrase "intimate duties" is both hilarious and horribly awkward at the same time - I'm not surprised both of them want to run and hide.
And I love love love Neal and Mozzie being there for them and giving them the kind of wedding they always wanted. ♥
Thank you! It was fun and interesting to delve into that part of canon, as well as take a closer look at Peter and El's marriage.
We know virtually nothing about Peter's father, but my image of him is a man who would sit his son down for a serious talk about his duties towards his wife, even as it all got horribly awkward.
I definitely wanted to include Neal and Mozzie in here, even though the focus was very firmly on El and Peter. That's such a wonderful scene in canon, not only for El and Peter, but for their strange little family, so I wanted to address that, if only a little. It's a pretty simple piece, so I didn't explore everything I was thinking about, but I'm rather fond of it despite that.
