Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? Less than I hoped, certainly (and I can hardly believe how few drabbles I wrote). It was a really stressful year, and I fell down on more than a few commitments.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2007? It's always unusual for me to write outside anime/manga pairings, so I was surprised by "The Painted Jezebel and Her Den of Sin."
wishkisses is always good for me surprising myself though. Also, "You and I Are the Milky Way," which I wrote on request. I don't see Nanami's feelings for Touga as sexual, so it was a bit of an exploration.
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? Either "Haircut" or "From the Ashes." It's hard to decide.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them? This year I wrote sex for the first time. (And the second time, and the third... once I got going, I couldn't stop.) I don't have it quite right yet, but I'm glad I can do it all.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year? I need to make some serious headway on "Same Plot, Different Shinigami." I have chapter three, now I just have to type it up. I also want to get comfortable writing kink.
From my past year of writing, what was...
My Favorite Story: "Haircut" or "From the Ashes."
Best Story: Um, I don't really know. This was not a good year for my self-esteem, so I'm not very good at selecting anything as especially good. Maybe "From the Ashes."
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe: "In the Mirror Behind Me" and "Through the Wicked, Winding Streets of My World" got very few comments, which was too bad. I thought that they were pretty good.
Most Fun: "Multiple Personality Disorder" without a doubt. Fear the crack, people. Fear it.
Most Sexy: Ah, hell, I don't know. I can't see my own stories as sexy.
Story with a Single Sexy Moment: Why must you keep asking questions that I can't answer!?
Holy crap, that's wrong: "Orgasm: The Fifth Noble Truth." Blasphemy? Why yes I think I shall.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: "From the Ashes" definitely. It really gave me a new understanding of Shiori. She's not evil, just kind of pathetic.
Hardest to Write: "Haircut" stopped me for a month because I couldn't figure out what word to use for female genitalia. Also, it was my first sex fic, so I had to work with that.
Biggest disappointment: "And the Night Shall Be Filled With Music" was too sweet, too romantic, and not Ban and Ginji at all. They're dorks, and should be written as such.
Biggest surprise: I was certainly surprised by how much I enjoy writing sex. Especially considering that I still not very good at it. I've lost the groove though. I need to write some porn.
A story I want remembered: "From the Ashes," I think. I don't know.
