Well, technically, there's no reason why he couldn't sleep anywhere, but twenty hours is a long time when they're in a cave without any supplies, and with no idea of where the TARDIS is...

I've been loving this fic! Poor hurt Doctor...but I love the cave setting. Can't wait for the next part because where could the TARDIS have gone? Hopefully not down into the cave somewhere...with the PETROMITES!
