Dude, awesome that you got to be there! I heard the voice actors from Adventure Time presented, too.

I animated on one of the nominated films--no WAY I was going to miss out on going! :D

And yep--the voices of Finn and the vampire lady whose name I can't recall. They both looked very pretty and teeny-bopper-y.

I wish you guys had won! That would have been so great.

MARCELINE! I was her for Halloween! *w* Gahhhhh, I would have loved to have seen them.

LOLOL there was no way. Day & Night not only had that nice, big-studio production behind it, but a great message. Enrique, while loads of fun (if you like cartoon gore), was a student-fueled production and.. kind of wasn't really about something.

BUT I get to put "Annie Nominated" in front of the work in my resume, which is the awesomest bit to come out of this! That and getting a bunch of photos with Spongebob's voice/the host, and whatnot ^______^

I was kinda stunned, for some reason, at the pretty shiny movie-star looking voice actors on the newer cartoons like Finn and Marceline's voices. They brought in all the classic guys like Jim Cummings and Joe Dimaggio and Tom Kenny and that guy who was Captain Hook, all very talented but not really Hollywood-type, and then... these kids. It was like YOU DON'T HAVE THE FACES/BODIES TO BE STUCK IN A RECORDING BOOTH AND YOU HAVE STYLISTS, WTF?? XD

Thank you dahling~ XD (Apparently our director's still doing the film festival rounds with the short, and some of them require that the films entered not be viewable on the internet, but I'll definitely toss a link up once he gives the OK~!)

Wahaha, I love Brad Bird and I really wonder what it's like working for the man. From the random documentaries and the like, he sounds like the sort to lead by example and works himself to death, but that sounds like the life of most animators.

Well, a big kudos to you for sitting along with the people you respect. One of these days, some youngster is going to be saying the same about you. ;)

His acceptance speech was extra hilarious because before the clip was played, the presenter talked about how Brad loooved animation and what it could do, how he'd been up against people who thought animation was all about goofy cartoony stuff and he'd insisted it could be about a couple having a domestic argument, and he dared live-action to match this and that moment in a Pixar movie in emotional, human connection, etc etc.

Which then, of course, led into his petrified "I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE LEFT ANIMATION BEHIND FOR LIVE-ACTION" bit XD

One of these days, some youngster is going to be saying the same about you. ;)

But I'd be so happy to just be a cog in the machine~! (Really, I don't covet the responsibilities of a director, I would have a heart attack ERRRVRYDAY...)

Aw man, that sounds absolutely perfect as a lead-in for that acceptance speech. But I have to agree that Pixar has a way with emotions and stories that most live action movies have been lacking these days. No wonder he has 'real' actors going after him. ;)

*laugh* I don't think it's the heart attacks that get you, but the constant head-banging against the wall when things go wrong at least every hour on the hour. Concussions hurt, y'know? Well, either way, I'm excited for all of the opportunities you have ahead of you, cog in the machine or something more.

LOL no, it would probably have been kind of crass for me to shove my portfolio in industry peoples' faces at an award show, or even at the after-parties XD
