They're thinking about revoking her Miss California title because of some topless photos and because she's signed up to be a spokesperson on some NOM commercials, and her contract with the pageant people prohibits her from being in commercials without permission. Her response? They're just persecuting her because of her gay marriage response. NOT BECAUSE SHE'S BREACHING A CONTRACT OR ANYTHING D8

Someone is going to have to explain to me how one even connects nude photos with one's Christian beliefs -_-

I am right now glancing at forms and manuals I DLed in January to try and start a grassroots campaign to repeal the gay marriage ban here in Missouri, and feeling like a failure for never filling them out. (It's HARD to get the constitutional revisions! It's SCARY to contemplate trying to get a two-thirds majority to agree on something like this!)

...but between Iowa and the east coast being cooler than where I live and where I grew up (I'm originally from San Diego, CA), I really feel something needs to be done before I have to move.

(You don't say! Mom's home state :P The mysterious California/Missouri connection continues..) That sounds really daunting though. Do you have some kind of GSA group already in the state that you could contact, or anything?

(Hee! What city, if you don't mind my asking?)

I have nothing here except internet friends who live in my state who'd be willing to sign anything pro-gay marriage-y that I asked them to. (Perhaps unsurprisingly, most of them are up north in KC and CoMo.) Which makes it about fifty times more daunting. But I dunno...it's just important to me, and I really feel like people and times have changed so much since that ban was passed five years ago that I might actually have a chance, if I just went out and did it.

(No idea! I think it might've started with an M. I'm still perplexed as to the sort of mindset that goes into Japan-->Hawaii-->Missouri-->California. I mean, based on all other accounts of Japanese/Asian immigration that I'm familiar with, that entire chain makes sense except for the Missouri part..)

Dah, that's damned unfortunate :( If it's been five years though, that's somewhat encouraging. I mean, California is still made of fail and ass, but at least within 4 years since opinion polls were taken, anti-gay voting/sentiment has decreased a significant percentage. Enough to suggest that in another 4 years we'd WIN popular vote for gay rights but.. well, we want them NOW. Especially since we HAD it for a while >_< I think it's really admirable of you to take on starting a grassroots org for what I can only assume isn't a very, um, accommodating state. I wish you the best of luck!
