"This must be what going mad feels like"

Link goinked off nique. I really do have more important things to be doing right now than getting upset (again) over the state of American government and dominant culture, like not failing college, and yet...

>> Congress to declare that Christmas and Christians are important <<
The actual text of resolution H.Res.847 for the link-phobic )

WHUT WHUT WHUT WHUT WHUT.

I... What? ......What.

I have so many issues with this it's not even funny. I'll state a few. o__o;

1. Fuck you congress and christianity, Christmas has become cultural. It's a winter festival that got a bit bastardized, but is still capable of being fun.

2. CHURCH AND STATE. CHURCH AND STATE. OH GOD. WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THIS TEXT. Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, and pretty much everyone else ever is turning in their grave and crying the dusty tears of dead old dudes.

3. DON'T THEY MOTHERFUCKING HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN SIT AROUND AND SAY 'HURR HURR CHRISTMAS IS IMPORTANT". LIKE YOU KNOW THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AND POVERTY AND TAXES AND OH YEAH ISN'T THERE A WAR ON OR SOMETHING I HEARD.

....-spaz- /Objection/.

Re: Items #1-3

Evidently, we were grossly mistaken when informed, waaay way way back in government classes, of what it was that Congress did.

I thought they were important people who made important decisions.

Apparently, their job is to sit around and beat off all day long.

Sit around beating off /to christmas/, no less. e_e

Whenever I think my faith in American leadership can't get any lower, they pull something like this and my soul dies a little bit more.

I'm soooooooo very very glad that our government is using their precious time to rally support for (/orz) those poor, persecuted Christians. /roll
I mean, they're ONLY in charge of the whole damn country. :')

Way to brown-nose the conservative voters' block, assholes. I'm just glad I live in not-completely-Failfornia too.

o_O So much for separation of church and state, and freedom of religion, because they just made Christians elitists... completely WTF. *saying it as a Christian too* Like, seriously. STOP shouting to the world that Christianity is all high and mighty; it's just gonna hate Christians even more.

I knew the sane Christians would just be like, "Stop making our side look bad!" ^_^;;

This is a joke, right? I mean, it says it's from The Onion...

Sadly, I think that may just have been a comparison to highlight its idiocy. Normally, this is the sort of fare that you would expect from The Onion.

I have a nasty feeling that this, indeed, is For Real. -_-

I think the writer either took the headline from an article in the Onion because it was appropriate, or they made a similarly Onion-esque, overstating headline. Unfortunately for the rest of it....
