Doctor Who

Okay, so the last few days I've watched the entire Series Five of Doctor Who as well as some of the previous episodes written by Moffat (Blink and The Silence in the Library two-parter).   It's my very first time watching DW all the way through, and I started with 11th Doctor as per earlgreytea68's suggestion (THANK YOU!), and oh goodness, it's brilliant.  This ( Read more... )

Welcome to the Doctor Who club! Be prepared to have your heart ripped out and enjoy it and beg for more! <3

It took a while to warm up to Rory but man, anyone who waits 2000 years for their love has got my vote 10000000000% percent!

I've watched all the eps for the 11th doctor now, and oy, it was quite lovely.

I have a really soft spot for the boy-next-door trope, and Rory basically was it (and I suppose he always had my support, knowing that Rory and Amy do get married and all that), so I loved him. Aw, the Girl Who Waited ep broke my heart.

Oh, yay! I'm so pleased you're enjoying it! I LOVED S5, but actually thought S6 was even stronger. Hopefully you agree and continue to love it! And River Song really grew on me as well. The Silence in the Library two-parter wasn't one of my favorite Moffat episodes when I first saw it (to be honest, Blink still and possibly forever takes the cake on that one, because it's just AMAZING, full-stop), but I am more and more convinced of its brilliance the more I know about River Song.

Moffat also wrote a two-parter called The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances, from S1. It contains the line that has made me laugh the most throughout DW watching, I highly recommend it. (I think it also pretty much stands alone, you don't need to know anything about the Ninth Doctor.)

I just finished S6 and loved it! I actually do love all the back and forth storytelling style, so DW really hit the right mark for me.

Come to think of it, I can see why the fans might not have liked the introduction of River Song back when The Silence in the Library aired the first time. I haven't really followed DW, but even I have heard of Rose and Martha and Jack, so I can see how jarring it would've been to have a guest character show up and change things all of a sudden. But in my case I've been spoiled somewhat going in, so I could view the story more comprehensively.

Blink was AMAZING. Now I'm gonna see if I can make time to catch up with the rest. Thanks again for the rec! <3
