Miso soup is a good idea! I never think to make it myself. Thanks!

Rice. Lots of plain, bland white rice and some plain bread (granted you don't have a gluten/wheat problem). Brown rice, while healthier, might be hard on your stomach =\

Feel better!

Oh yeah, I didn't think of that, with the brown rice being maybe being harder. Tonight I'm going to eat some plain white rice in some veggie broth, because broth sounded really good. I never want to eat bread when I'm sick, but I'm always happy when I do, it almost always makes me feel better.

Thanks!

Rice in broth is always what I eat when I'm sick. Also ginger ale and ginger tea. Hope you feel better soon!

I got like this for about a week, eliminated soy, and felt 100% better within 24 hours. Have you been checked for food allergies?

I have been allergy tested. A few things turned up in a blood test (wheat, egg, apples) but nothing on a skin prick test. I tried going wheat-free just in case for like... a month back when I was allergy tested (gosh, it was almost 2 years ago I think!) and it didn't make me feel any better. Of course, I didn't feel like crap back then.

I think I might have H. pylori, I was treated for it while travelling in South Africa, but the dr. only prescribed 5 days of antibiotics. I felt better after 2 days (and of course took the drugs until the end of the course) but the internet tells me that normal treatment is 10-14 days, so maybe it wasn't 100% eliminated. The current antibiotic I'm taking I think is just making things worse (and isn't for H. pylori, my at-home doctor was expecting something else, I guess)

have you had a blood test to check for nutritional deficiencies? iron for example as well as a fw others can cause one to become nauseous ( and awesomely, so does taking iron pills! yay!)

My doctor is running a bunch of tests, the only ones that are back so far are that I'm not anemic, not pregnant, and my thyroid is fine.

Do you have access to a juicer or blender? Whenever I'm ill and don't feel like eating, I try to pack as many calories and nutrients as I can in either a juice or smoothie. Or gazpacho!

True Confession: I feel like a bad vegan for saying this, but I've actually never made a smoothie myself. I do have a blender though, and it sounds pretty good!

I'm not a huge gazpacho fan, but I do have some in my freezer (I make a bunch every summer and freeze it for my gazpacho-loving husband). Might be worth a shot.

I typically don't make smoothies either, but I do make juice a lot. (Jack Lelane juicer: best birthday present ever.)

I think that once my husband and I buy a house (and therefore have a bigger kitchen) I'm going to look into the whole juicer business.

how about congee? it's rice cooked to the consistancy of oatmeal. an asian dish given to sick people for comfort.

hope you get better soon!

Huh. That sounds interesting, I might have to try it. What sounds MORE interesting is oatmeal! I don't know why that didn't occur to me. Probably because food is pretty far from my mind.

Thanks!
