English proffessor gets an 'F' on comprehension...

High minded author sides with vegetarians and Peter Singer. But when it comes to vegans, he has nothing but vitriol.

Why? Because he has no damned clue as to who vegans are. He has based his negative opinions on anecdotal evidence that led him to lump all vegan into one easily slammed ideological category.

Is there anyone here on this forum who thinks they live "pure" -- fully and without harming any conscious animals?

Seriously -- this is only a well written version of the usual mindless online troll-bait that I easily dissect at least once every week. It's lazy reasoning at best.

This author has drifted off into pure bigotry. If this article's practices were used to debate the merits of minorities or various religions, it would instantly recognized as only fit for publishing in some 'white-power' manifesto.

I am severely disappointed that a publication called "The Chronicle of Higher Education" had published this without recognizing how shallow and baseless this article is.

Just more proof that:
...being recognized as intelligent does not mean you can never be foolish
...that you are never too old to be childish
...that credentials should not be merit enough alone to publish without review
