I'd be fine describing myself as anarchist or socialist and most vegans I know fit in somewhere along those lines or are at least left of center for the most part. My sister, not (yet!) veg*n is a very Republican (US) fundamentalist Christian. There are a few of students at her (biblical) university, all very far right-wing politically, who are vegan and pro-life.

I would guess most of us, particularly vegans sympathetic to abolitionist rather than welfare arguments, are pretty left-wing. But you'll get a handful of people for whom veganism fits in pretty well with their right-wing politics.

i would describe myself as anarchist too but not socialist anarchist, although I respect some of their ideas. the word i usually use is voluntaryist

My husband is a vegetarian republican, as is my sister. (they don't have lj accounts, to my knowledge)

I chose democrat in the poll, but I have many socialist views as well. In fact, most vegans I know are like this.

Yeah, as said above, this means nothing to me as I'm not American.
We have Liberal, Labor and Greens, pretty much. I don't know the difference between democrats and greens in America, but I vote Greens here.
