Otakon 2009/Baltimore

Jul 01, 2009 21:23

I'm going to be heading to Otakon 2009 with two of my friends. I have no idea what the eating arrangements will be as the website was of no help, but does anyone know if they do serve food and if it's possibly vegan? It's hinted that they serve food but it just seems pretty unclear to me ( Read more... )

I've been going there the past few years with my friends. If you mean the convention center, I never even bothered because it was expensive, but there's some places to eat in walking distance. Well, I don't know of any specialty place in the area, but places can usully accommodate.

Eh, most conventions tend to be rather pricey when it comes to food.

Thank you for your tips though! I haven't been to a big convention like this since Dragon Con back in 2000.

Also, vegbaltimore's list of locations is kind of confusing. They have "Baltimore" at the top, but lots of the neighboorhoods in Baltimore are listed seperately further down. So if you scroll down, just look at the addresses to see if they are in Baltimore. :-) From the convention center you can walk to the inner harbor, which has tons of listings. If you have a vehicle or want to take a cab (or a water taxi!) Brick Oven Pizza in Fells Point has vegan soy cheese pizza. (and "normal" pizza as well)

You can also get anywhere that the lightrail or subway goes, the lightrail stops right outside the convention center, and lexington market (which has a subway stop) is within walking distance.

I'll be there! I don't remember there being any vegan food besides fruit in the BCC. I can never remember the name of it, but there's a great middle eastern hookah restaurant nearby that has vegan options.

I may ask my friend if he knows of the restaurant. He loves Indian food.

And maybe I'll see you there! :D I know the convention is huge but it'd be cool to meet some vegans there. I will be cosplaying as Lisa Lisa from Jojo along with my friends as a group.
