Why, Joaquin Phoenix, why?

I am just a bit sad at what is going on with one of the most influential vegan mentors right now. He seems lost, and a bit crazy. UNLESS he is just acting for the media. But actually it just seems that he's under the influence. There was the whole incident on the Late Night show, and the video of him rapping, and now this video of him talking to a ( Read more... )

...okay.

This is completely irrelevant to veganism, not to mention really old.

I think it's completely relevant to the vegan movement. He narrated Earthlings, one of (If not THE) most influential animal rights movie to date, and has been a big speaker for animal rights in general.

Yup it's a very informative movie. I was vegan before I watched it, but I admit that it cemented my beliefs all the more.

I think this is a joke. That is the rumor that's going around. A joke for some documentary.

I don't think, but I could be wrong, that people are associating him being vegan with the sort of publicity stunt he's doing now. (I thought he already admitted it was a joke?) In other words I don't think that anyone is equating the two, it would be kind of silly to point out every person who is vegan that is doing some odd or out of character and saying it affects the vegan movement.

Yeah, it's a pretty big leap to go from "he's acting crazy" to "vegans must all act crazy".

I think people are more likely to infer "he's acting crazy = celebrities are always acting crazy".

Good point. I hope people are smart enough to realize that - sometimes you have to wonder though...lol

he hasn't talked about being vegan during any of these recent appearances. you need to stop worrying. i don't relate the way he's been acting lately AT ALL to being vegan, and have not heard ANYBODY else say that either. most people realize it is a joke, even though he hasn't admitted it yet.

do you know who crispin glover is? he acted a lot weirder on letterman years ago, and people still talk about it. what joaquin did is mild compared to that...

No I know celebrities have done much weirder things...this is just...well, ya know. You're right I am sure it's nothing too big to worry about anyway. Just makin' some convo...

Well a lot of people talk about vegan celebrities and their influences on here...I don't know why mine would be less relevant than another person's vegan celebrity post...

Despite what other people are saying, I was wondering if anyone was going to talk about Joaquin in this community. When I saw his act or whatever it was, I immediately started wondering if people would start thinking about his animal activism. So, I think it does relate to this community :)

Its really sad though... For some reason, Im not getting the joke vibe out of it, but I hope it is! Ive always been a fan of his ^^
