WTF Peta

Feb 11, 2009 21:39

Ok I don’t post here allot (more of a wallflower). However I have been vegan for 2 years now and have got most of my family and friends liking tofu, soy milk, understanding my beliefs and even loving seitan. Then PETA goes and does sh*t like this and now my older family members in their 70's think I am into some crazy group of extremist. Why PETA ( Read more... )

opinion-peta, activism-bad publicity

i agree with this comment:

"

PETA has a point, too bad they made it in that way.

Be the change. The constructive thing to do, rather than compare good, well intentioned folks to the KKK, would be to set up a dog show for mutts, and limit it to prizes for ability, intelligence, and personality of the animals. Show how it could be better, rather than raining on everyone's parade and creating enemies."

I agree with you PETA does have a point but horrendous way of drawing station to it. I use to be an animal control officer (way before I was vegan). All my furry little mates are rescues, pure bread or mutt I love them. I have my 30 pound westie mix on my lab now begging for my beans and rice.

Ok ignore the bad spelling I am tired and am now sharing my dinner with my dog. This the same dog that adores seitan and will howl until you give him some.

i hate this dog show and i agree with their point, but it is badly executed.

I am surprised my activist group didn't do anything...or any other group i'm on the list for. We don't dress up and all that crap. Once our group overlapped with PETA and they got upset with us cause we were chanting XD but dressing up as KKK is ok, as long as you are nice to everyone.

Anyway, i agree with you that the point was good, but just done in a lame lame way....as always >.>

they've posted about this on Feministing, and thankfully all there seem to understand that PETA rarely represents the interests of regular vegans or AR activists. Phew!

The offensiveness isn't the extreme politics, it's the stupidity of their execution. I have politics that most people consider extreme and yet I would never put effect to them with such insensitive and inflammatory tactics.

"Earlier, a man strode away yelling, "That's disgusting! I'm going to buy more fur!""

Great way to win people over.

Yeah, I think that the point got lost in the shock - as is often with PETA.
