I'd try to assure them that you still love them, and that the way that they raised you was fine as well, and that what you are embarking on is not meant to be a rejection of their values, traditions, or the culture in which they raised you in. You're just trying to embrace a way of life that is filled with compassion for all forms of life, that it isn't perfect, and that it's important for you to find a positive way in which to live on the earth ( ... )

Becoming Vegan by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina is a really great resources. Lots of nutrition charts so you can learn everything you need to about being a healthy vegan. Maybe you can read it and then try to get your parents to read it as well?

Generation V might also be really helpful for you. I haven't read it so I can't completely vouch for it but I really like the work of Bob and Jenna Torres and I don't think they would publish anything that wasn't excellent. It's written by a teenage vegan and it looks like there are some tips for dealing with non-supportive parents.

Living Among Meat Eaters by Carol Adams (who also has a couple other great books) has some good tips on how to react to meat-eaters saying stupid things.

Good luck on dealing with your parents!

For what it is worth my friends, family and co-workes are all very much non-supportive.

Go to your library and get some books...not sure what is out there but yeah, read up.

Hey I'm 14...almost 15. I am going through the exact same thing. It's pretty tough...but if it is important to you it will work

You're definitely going to want to start learning to cook. Otherwise, they'll feel like you're just wanting them to cater to you. If you put an effort into making the prepared food, it'll show that you definitely have the initiative to make the change, and they won't feel "put upon."
