That is the exact reason why I refuse to watch those shows. I don't want to give those people anymore attention than they already think they deserve.

I love watching shows that allow people to experience other people's cultures. But regardless if she didn't like the slaughter of sheep, she should have been respectful in her reply in not wanting to participate.

Sometimes I wish the really spoiled ones like her get stuck in some quick sand or bit by something, just for karma reasons...

No, I understand it's interesting to allow people to experience other people's cultures.
I just wonder if any of those girls understand the point. To me it seems like a lot of them would just go back home, buy a bunch of bullshit and continue living the way they do. The point of the show is to send rich bitches to other cultures for entertainment value, I don't think it teaches them anything.
And personally, it just makes me mad because I want to be sent there and instead they send these people who already have enough money to go. Of course, I would probably spend it doing something useful and learning rather than acting like the way other cultures live is horrendous.

I'm jealous, you can probably tell.

THIS.

My children are only getting Discovery, Animal Planet, PBS, National Geo, and History. I'll use comcast to control the things they watch on Nick and whatnot because even that has some horrible mind rotting content.

I'm glad my mother exposed me to books, the outdoors, and camps (physics, bug, and lab) when I was young.

You could just not do TV at all. That is what we do. We have a portable DVD player, and she sometimes watches videos on long car rides or when she or I are sick, but that is it.

Like Sparrowbone said, MTV makes no sense so I shouldn't have been searching for logic.

You don't... lol. If the sheer ignorance of the rich girls wont piss you off, then their ignorance of culture and animals will.
