hey all,

i'm visiting a friend in london for 12 days. we'll also be going to oxford and paris for a couple of days. i was wondering if any of you had advice on where i could get some yummies in any of these places. i know i can find enough food, but i'm looking for good things that i shouldn't miss!

thanks!

If you like sorbet, try G&D's in Oxford.

you HAVE to go to root master, it's a double decker bustaurant (!) and it's in brick lane and coolies. EVERYTHING they sell is vegan, and it's delicious. i went there for my birthday. the prices are pretty good too.

This! Love rootmaster!

Though for vegan cheesecake you can't go past Green Note and inSpiral Lounge in Camden. Vitaorganic is also pretty good.

To the OP check out http://www.veganlondon.co.uk/ for a good comprehensive guide to vegan things in London. I also write a bite about events in my own lj.

If you are free to socialise each week there is an event (or three) on that is organised by VEG London, London Vegans or the London Vegan Meetup group. There are also alot of vegan festivals/fayres coming up, do you know what dates you'll be around?

Oh God, PLEASE go to the Pink Giraffe in Oxford! I lived there for three years and miss it like mad. Chinese food with a whole vegetarian/mostly vegan menu: http://www.thepinkgiraffe.com/

They've got crispy duck pancakes!!!

I live in Paris now, and am sorry to say that there isn't one place that really leaps out at me. You should definitely get falafel from l'As du Falafel on the rue des Rosiers (in the Marais). Yummy! La Victoire Suprème du Coeur (http://www.vscoeur.com/), also in the Marais is pretty damn good, but pretty damn expensive. Most vegetarian restaurants don't serve alcohol here... General advice is that you're better sticking to places that aren't traditionally French - all you'll get there is chips (fries) fried in lord knows what and green salad. Enjoy anyway!

That sounds like I lived IN the Pink Giraffe. Not strictly true, although not too far from the truth, either!
