Help! Need to proove someone wrong about eating meat.

There is someone who I've been talking to who has called me and various others "- an arrogant ass." because I kindly told them the negative effects eating most (if not all) meat can have on one's body later on in life. And that they knew nothing of the healthy benefits being vegetarian / vegan can provide ( Read more... )

I can't believe I used to be so biased when it came to eating meat... eugh. Even when I ate meat I was never so biased to think that vegans and vegetarians didn't get proper nutrition, especially when people linked me to informative sites.

Yup! I'm not the militant type to shove something down one's throat. And I too believe it is a personal choice and I told her ways in which one can be a healthier omnivore. But the fact that she thinks that vegs don't get aaaany nutrition that's found in meat just blows me.

That would be a lot for one post. Try this book. Your local library might have it.

you're not going to change this persons mind even if you show them the straight facts, people like that are set in their ways and wont change.

Well, that's incredibly defeatist.

And also incorrect. I'm sure most of us spoken to vegans (IRL or online, I've come across them in both) who say they used to be very anti-vegan and combative and think it was very unhealthy. And then at some point, they came across information.

Yup.

And to your second point I'm a good example of one of those people. Although I wasn't completely anti-vegan aaaarg! I as still biased in my opinions on how animals really feel and how they deserve the basic right to enjoy life when they can. I'm glad I came here, helped me in the long run.

Put the onus back on her - ask her exactly what nutrients she is arguing one ONLY gets from flesh / animal products.

The only reasonable thing she'll be able to come up with is B12, to which you say, "Fortified foods and/or supplements." Done.
