I haven't tried Ethiopian food either. I do want to try it. I live in a small town so there isn't a lot of food diversity here. I do think that too many carnivores can't fathom eating no meat and enjoying it. Many have meat at every meal and they can't understand a meal without it.
I've never had ethiopian but it sounds like something I can chow down on . . . is its for the most part vegan or was the restaurant you went to specialty?
There are usually lots of vegan options (along the lines of lentils and steamed veggies; the spongy bread that you scoop up the food with is awesome) but it depends on the restaurant. If you go with an omnivore, make SURE you tell the server that you want your vegan food on a separate plate or they will most likely put everything on the same platter. EW.
Gosh, I hate when people find that something they're eating is vegan, and it changes their opinion of it. I've had Ethiopian and there are so many things that are vegan "as is".
I guess it's nice, though, that instead of giving that friend the heave-ho with a farewell "fuck you", you passively changed her mind by filling her belly.
