Vegan Restaurants in Maine?

Jul 17, 2008 09:28

 Hey all,

I'll be visiting Maine in August and was wondering where I'd be able to eat, anyone know of any restaurants that are vegan friendly?  I'm not exactly sure which cities we'll be visiting yet but I'm thinking Portland and Bangor will be on the list.

Thanks!

In Portland, head to Au Naturals. VERY vegan friendly.

I've been to o naturals which was very good, little lad's which was also good. Sillys serves meat but they had a vegan pizza when I went. It's a really neat little hole in the wall too...so it's really interesting and in a nifty part of downtown.

In Portland:
Definitely hit up lil' lads- the nicest family in the world run it (they recently took over) and it is absolutely impossible to leave that place unhappy. Really great, healthy food and yummy deserts. Actually, I'm eating some Lil' Lads homemade almond butter right now on some crackers...mmm..
Silly's is also good- lots of vegan entrees and deserts.
The Green Elephant is a bit on the pricier side (around $12-15 for an entree) but the food is amazing and is almost all vegan.
Also Mesa Verde, a mexican place right next to the Green Elephant, has soy cheese and is super accommodating and friendly.
There are also some pretty great thai and sushi places around town that have tasty tasty vegan options.

have fun!
