ask him if he'd like to offer another alternative, such as rice, oat, almond, or hemp milk, perhaps?

i try to avoid soymilk because i've got a bit of an intolerance, so its heaven-sent when i find a place that uses rice milk! my favorite coffee shop in chicago just started - its awesome.

Your boss is a jerk.

Sorry, but for most people, soy is healthier than dairy.

he sure is! even more difficult is the fact that he hates re-discussing commands he's already issued, so it'll be fun trying to bring this up with him. bleh!

so many mainstream coffee places offer soy creamers, it would probably be in his best interest to let people know it is an option to keep up with "competition."

I understand there is debate about the health benefits, but considering a minority of people might take you up on the soy, it is celebrating diversity of diet by mentioning it, making it better for the customers.

i work in a sub shop. it's the only job i could find right now. i look at it this way (and i may just be justifying). i respect everyone's right to make their own choices about what they eat even if i disagree, so i don't feel that by working there i'm causing any harm to animals. the people would still be eating the same thing whether i was working there or not. but on the other hand, i wouldn't be able to work in a slaughter house, and i could say the same thing, that the animals were going to be killed whether i was the one to kill them or not... so i guess i've just come to the realization that i need to do everything i can to find a different job. so thanks for your post, it's opened my eyes to my own hypocracy ( ... )

that's fantastic that your presence there has had an impact on the vegan-friendliness of the place! the owner must be pretty cool.

i don't like the idea of working at an omni spot, but i'd always reconciled it with the fact that i was able to subtly make customers more aware of their choices. until now...

i guess i need a new job too :P

The whole first paragraph describes my current situation as well. I do always feel kind of warm and fuzzy inside when someone orders an Avocado Lover (the vegetarian sandwich) with no mayo or cheese. =)
