That was a really interesting read - thanks for posting. The prepared fruit craze doesn't seem nearly as big here in France as it is in the UK (shelves and shelves on the way into the supermarket...), but we're just as bad about pre-packaged salad. Me included!

yeah there's an entire section of my supermarket here in Albany, NY, USA that has prepackaged fruits and veggies and my roomie always gets them... i think it's because she's spoiled at home and her mom cuts everything for her lol

but it's so much more expensive, i don't understand why anyone buys that stuff.. but i guess now i can use this information to try to talk her out of it!

man, i don't get precut fruit. i worry about what was on the knife that cut it, if the person's hands were clean - i'm way too paranoid to eat it.

i don't buy precut fruit, but back in the day i used to buy the fruit salad thing at McDonalds cuz i worked a lot and it was a fast lunch. That article mentioned the packaged salads and i had never even thought about that...when i think of buying "fresh" vegetables and such i see them on the shelves and i tend to think THEY are the germy freaky ones...how would i go about cleaning THEM when they've been sitting in the open for god knows how long, and how do i know that they aren't covered in chemicals? Why must it be so hard to just eat healthy like we all want to and not have to worry about pesticides and shit on our food...it's our FOOD ...we're gonna EAT it...people can be so mystifying sometimes.
