Seafood ethics - a request for on-line resources

I have a friend who I was talking to the other day about the ethics, environmental and otherwise, of eating seafood.  I tried to explain how overfishing and (seafood) factory farming is destroying the environment and causing new species to become endangered, and how the popular opinion that 'fish don't actually feel anything so it doesn't matter so ( Read more... )

Well, I got this wikipedia article about the environmental issues of salmon

I had a picture of fish in fish nets, but I lost it. It's good for a scare, though.

Article on overfishing.

They also had an article some time last summer about Mangrove forests, and how shrimp farming is destroying them all over the world.

Seriously: the overfishing of the oceans is a really bad problem. It won't be long before it's too late and there aren't enough fish. :^(

that book does say "go ahead and eat bivalves" which i found surprising.

with the caveat that they are grown and fished in some kind of sustainable way.
