(didn't read the whole thing.. ahem. will later. promise ;))

so far I thankfully didn't have any really not-so-accepting encounters. there's two friends of mine who make fun of me from time to time, but not in a mean way and I do let them know when they take it too far. so far I had no discussion about my reasons with them though, and all I hear are health arguments, which I usually just shred to pieces quite easily (it's funny, they're both nurses and both come up with calcium and protein, not stuff like vitamin B12 or D... lol they make it so easy for me)

positive happenings...

my father is really cool, even giving me money to buy my own food. my uncle will make me a special meal for christmas. I just wish they'd go my way :(

oh, and last week I had a discussion with my boss who brought up the whole 'plants are living creatures too' deal but I managed to politely tell him what I think about that argument and he even agreed with my reasoning. yay

Absolutely - our capacity for self-deception is astonishing. I know I am remarkably blind to the things I'm not paying attention to, until they get pointed out to me in a non-threatening, constructive (even inspiring?) way. I don't believe there's anyone who isn't :)

i believe that the best thing you can do is live the best life you can and lead by example... if you are living a healthy, happy, cruelty-free life, all that good energy comes off you and the people around you will pick up on that. if friends or family ask about it, i explain my reasons, but in the most non-offensive way that i can [i.e. i don't talk about why THEIR diet is gross and cruel, i only talk about the way MY diet is healthy and fulfilling for me], but otherwise, i don't really bring it up.
and, always have a sense of humor. my friends [veg*n and omni] all joke about veg*nism, but no one means it in a bad way. we all just like to laugh about life. besides... as the old saying goes, no publicity is bad publicity.
