This reminds me of the way that fish can change gender - and some fish (called "simultaneous hermaphrodites") posesses both working testes and ovaries, which means they can lay eggs as well as release sperm to fertilise them. Now that's sustainability!
These stories never cease to amaze and inspire me. I'd like to think that research into other species' gender identity and ability to reproduce in "alternative" ways will also lead to a greater understanding of human gender/sexuality. I'd love to be able to change gender at will! ;)
