Diabetes

What do you order at starbucks? I'm assuming a vanilla soy latte might be vegan but I'm not sure.

And is anyone diabetic in here? Because since I've been vegan its helped me a lot. I'm type 1 which is not what this article is refering to ( rather type 2) but I was just wondering :D

I'm diabetic. Right now I'm a semi-strict vegetarian, wanting to go vegan but I'm having a hard time giving up cheese... ummm cheese. I know there is vegan cheese, but I am a cheese snob. I've been vegetarian since July 2006. But right now my diabetes is getting worse. I was diagnosed a couple of years ago.

I didn't really feel a change until I went off dairy so as hard as it might be, try it for a week or so, and that could be just enough to notice a difference. May I ask what type you are?

I'm type 2.

I'm moving into my own apartment on Monday. I'm hoping to keep only vegan food in my fridge & pantry, except for two cans of tuna in case I need a protien fix. One whole can of white tuna has 37 grams of protien and sometimes I need a quick protien/fat fix to stablize my blood sugar. Anywho, not having non-vegan food around should help me on my journey to veganism. Next I will have to battle the craving for a Big Mac!

I hope this isn't hopelessly cliche, but have you watched Supersize Me? If not make sure you watch the fry special feature. They take fries from several places and McDonalds and put them in a jar and watch them for weeks. The fries from a mom and pop place and some other control mold like you would expect food at room temp to do, the McDonalds fries NEVER looked different than the day they bought them. If there's nothing in a McFry for mold and bacteria, there's nothing in that McFry to nourish my body either.

I only ate McDonalds 2 or 3 times usually when it was the only quick options, and each time I wished I hadn't as soon as I started trying to eat the "food".

Good luck with the move and the cravings.
