I don't have any link, but I despise how animals are treated like products with no feeling and how most people don't give a crap where that burger came from.
Go listen to the Vegan Freak podcasts. They have lots of different perspectives on veganism, though they are at least 90% focused on ethical veganism. They are also a lot of fun to listen to. Also find Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating. It can be downloaded free, and it has some pretty compelling arguements. I don't think it's from Farm Sanctuary (but I could be wrong), though I think it mentions them a bit.
This is a bit random but I didn't know you were vegan! I met you at one of the AYME conferences and keep seeing you around on my other friend's Live Journals leaving comments. I saw your post and it was quite exciting :)
Oh I love bumping into people in communities! I'm sorry but I can't quite work out who you are from your profile?
I (Von) am not vegan, just mostly eat vegan as Fran (my girlfriend) is, so there's no point in cooking separate meals and it's tasty! I'm more of an eggs and dairy reducer I guess but for LJ the two of us sort of merge into one person to post to communities from my account (the above comment is all her), it's so much easier than logging in and out. I am loving learning so much more about veganism though and it's very cool to meet another vegan AYMEr :). Hope I don't disappoint but Fran's is a vegan AYMEr anyway!
That's okay, I wasn't sure if you'd remember me as we only met very briefly at one of the AYME conferences years ago. I always remember you though because we have a few friends in common and I see you about on their journals every now and then :)
You didn't disappoint, it was still a fun moment bumping into you here :)
besides the ethical reasons behind not wanting to eat the dead pieces of a tortured animal???
how bout cause its bad for you to eat meat/have dairy (this may not leave much room for the "why not fish then?" argument, but you can bring up the whole salmon having too much...whats the stuff in them? i dont remember, fish skeeves me, always has...and the fact people have allergies to shellfish, that shellfish are bugs and that most food poisioning is from fishy-type food)
and that its bad for the environment
and we're not cavemen, we have come far beyond "we need to eat this to survive" cause we DONT...
