Red meat vastly increases breast cancer risk

Older women who eat even small amounts of red meat are at significantly greater risk of developing breast cancer, according to a study published today.

There are no guarantees. What you're looking at is stacking the odds instead. In my family, there is a long history of various forms of cancer. The fact that I'm vegan and live a relatively active lifestyle (insofar as I don't have a car and do quite a fair bit of walking pretty much every day), etc., doesn't mean I won't get cancer - let's face it, I'm a member of a family with a clear disposition towards it; but it lowers the odds, and that's the best that can be done when it comes to diseases like cancer. Think of it as being along the lines of driving carefully - there's no guarantee that nothing awful will ever happen to you, but you're vastly decreasing the odds of having an accident if you pay attention, obey the traffic laws, and drive carefully and courteously.
