I know we all like to rant about ignorant, closed-minded people who bash veganism and screw up even the simplest of orders, but today I'd like to post something a little more positive ( Read more... )

the emeril restaurant in the universal studios are is the first restaurant i went to after going vegan. they made me a boring little meal (roasted vegetables and rice) but still, i was very surprised that they were so understanding, since their menu was not at all vegan-friendly.

yay for orlando.

Always nice to hear a story like that. Definitely send it to the management!

I second that. Having worked in a restaurant, I've seen first-hand how the employees glow after receiving a letter of commendation.

Great story of a great experience!

I say definitely try to communicate the positive feedback to the restaurant so they won't ever be afraid to keep up the good/understanding work.

Ooo, that's a nice story! It's good to hear positive vegan stories!

I have a good story about a local cafe around the corner from where I live, Rupert and the Fig. The first time I went there I ordered a soy hot chocolate drink, and the waiter went "Oh! are you ordering soy for health reasons or because you're vegan?" I was so taken aback because usually waiters don't care - so I said it was because I'm vegan, so he went on to tell me that the organic hot chocolate they use is 100% vegan & fair trade, and that it's a mixture of dark chocolate and sugar unlike lots of commercial chocolate drinks that have skim milk powder. Then he recommended the soup of the day (zucchini and coriander) saying it was vegan - that it was made with a vegetable stock & that their soups NEVER contain any dairy! YAY! The soup was absolutely delicious too!

I love it when people know what you're going on about, it makes life so much easier! :)
