I wrote this for my personal journal, but thought I'd post it here, in case any of you are dealing with this issue with your friends. Any feedback on how to improve the arguments would also be appreciated if you feel like it

I'm totally with you on the "not food" stance. The point of going out to eat with non-vegans is more for the company than anything. Eat at home before you go, then just have a cup of coffee at the restaurant and have a good time with your friends.
Very well written! I hate when people think just cus a place has a salad too you would like to eat there. And of course they have no dressing you can eat and nothing else. One time I was taken to eat where the only thing I could eat was the sauteed mushrooms people order to go on steak.
i don't even go with my friends to nonvegan places after this one time we met our friends at the mall and they decided on the spure of the moment to stop in this steak place... watching the guys across from me eat steak was like watching someone eat puppies. i was totally ill the whole time. i'm glad my friends are more understanding of my moral beliefs. i think my girlfriend and i had to badger them a bit into trying vegan food for the first time, but then they realized how tasty the food was, and now they let us pick the restaurant whenever we go out, haha. no, but, seriously, having open minded friends and family is definitely a blessing. .__.
