I have very little respect for PETA.

All the good they do is largely nullified by the fact that they make the entire animal rights movement look like a bunch of attention-whoring assholes. Or just shallow idiots who do things because that dude from their favorite shitty emo band said it was cool.

So basically, thank you PETA for yet another setback. How 'bout the next time you want to pull some lame publicity stunt, you go fuck yourselves instead?

All they did was send a letter. It's not like they showed up and protested. If animal rights people get bad publicity over this, it's just because the media is going to take any excuse to give bad publicity to AR.

I think PETA's campaigns are sometimes sexist, racist and fatphobic; but I also know that I personally would likely not be vegan now if it were not for their efforts, so my dislike for them is tempered by the good that I know they have done in their effect on myself and others.

I have very mixed feelings about them, too, though veering more towards the negative most of the time.

I have no problem with them sending letters out - in fact, I think that sending letters to churches that do have live animal Nativities is an excellent thing; what I don't get is why they - knowing how high their profile is - didn't simply do a little fact-checking.
