Here's a random thought that I just had. Maybe it's been talked to death about before, but I've not seen it anywhere, so

Something people over look is that when we start killing of deer and stuff like that "to keep population down" it ends up making them have higher birthrates - so in fact a lot of times hunting only worsens the problem... The only real way to keep a population from growing insanely, is to limit the amount of food available to them... Which is something that's hard to do with deer... (if there is less food available they won't increase birthrates).
