vegan dumpstering?

My curiosity has been sparked by other posts here - is dumpster-diving (as a main source of food) compatible with being a strict vegan? My impression was always that it wasn't, but people here have said things that suggest otherwise. Just curious. I don't do food but I do root around dumpsters for home stuff...I got my bookcase that way. The last few months I have picked up picture frames, glass vases (with the price tag still on) and much more.

I guess it's not technically vegan to eat animal products from dumpsters, but it certainly acheived vegan's goals as well or better.
To be vegan and only eat from dumpsters? Well, I imagine it'd be pretty tough to get a balanced diet.. but i guess it depends on the particular dumpster.
