This evening, my brother and I made a Lebanese-style feast for our parents' 30th wedding anniversary. The idea was to feed the four of us plus Granny, but this lot made enough for another couple of hungry people at least, especially since I also made a chocolate cake for afterwards. Wow - how incredibly nice of you. I'm off to drool at your pictures in the other community now since I'm stuck at work :)
And good idea about steaming and then frying the cauliflower!

Lebanese flat bread is called Pita bread.
Although alot of arabic foods are vegan - hummus, baba Ghanoush, and the pita bread.. there is even tabouli, smee (sp?), and some other yummy ones.

Arab people eat alot of meat as well.
sorry i'm beginning to blab.

Those recipes called the bread "Khoubiz". I'm familiar with pita bread, but most Lebanese restaurants I've been to use a bigger, thinner, floppier bread, and that's what I'd hoped to make, though obviously the result of my baking was far more pita-like. I'm told by a half-Syrian colleague that my favourite Lebanese Restaurant back home is really serving Syrian food, so perhaps I was searching recipes from the wrong region. I like tabouleh/tabouli, but I think it's too "grainy" for some of my family. I don't think I'm familiar with smee, though.. what's it made from?

smee is similar to tabouleh .. i don't have the recipe. When my mom gets home i'd ask her for it and post it.
