Brownie help!

Dec 23, 2010 21:18

I have been searching the internet for the best simple brownie recipe, and since nothing I've tried so far is omgamazing I thought I would ask the genius vegans on LJ. I'm looking for something that doesn't have flax seed OR ener-g egg replacer, and more chewy than cakey in texture. Anyone have a fail-proof recipe that fits the bill?

Thanks!

I had to look up what self-raising flour was, but google says I can make it myself! Think this recipe would work with brown sugar?

yikes, I doubt I'll have arrowroot powder around any time soon, but if I ever decide to splurge on it I'll try this out

I don't recall where I found this recipe, but I've used it successfully lots of times and it never gets old. :) Also, it's nice and chewy while tres healthy, too."Green" Brownies

1/2 cup canola oil
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt (I changed this to half instead of a whole tsp since my batch turned out salty)
2 cups finely shredded zucchini
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1. Preheat oven 350 degrees F
2. Grease 9 x 13 pan
3. mix oil, sugar, vanilla
4. in seperate bowl blend flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt
5. stir wet mixture into dry, then fold in zucchini and nuts
6. bake 25-30 minutes

Um, you might want to add less sugar -- I never add the ridiculously large amounts recipes call for, I just add some to taste and always get results that are both yummy and edible in high quantities, natch!
