Figs

 My neighbors have a couple of giant fig trees and they're letting me pick them while they're on a week long vacation.  There are sooooo many figs! I've been eating them fresh, yum!, making fig smoothies, I'm making 'fig newtons' later today, but there's still more figs!  I looked through the tags, but didn't find much (other than suggestions to ( Read more... )

Halve and carmelise them. Serve on salad with some toasted nuts. Yum.

one of the best things i've ever eaten: brussels sprouts fried with grapes, fig puree, walnuts, and mint.

alternatively, you could roll around in them while laughing maniacally. that's what you're supposed to do with fantastical riches, right?

That's what I was going to say. A friend of mine has a fig tree in her yard and just canned a bunch of jam. She says it's delicious.

I've heard of preserving them in a jar with brandy, but haven't attempted it yet. Sounds amazing though. I wish my little fig tree would produce more figs!!
