I'm traveling to England next week and I'm getting sooo excited about all the delicious food I will be eating. I will be staying in North Chailey (near Lewes and Haywards Heath) and traveling to Brighton often. I will also be staying in London (Manor House/Highbury area, but obviously traveling about the city ( Read more... )

Omg, Brighton!!! :) I did my study abroad there!

I can't recommend Wai Kika Moo Kau enough! It's in the same area as Red Veg, on the other side of the street. Most fabulous vegan chili I've ever had. They also make killer breakfast 'sausage'. Oh, and they have chai milk shakes, too, made with soy! Yummmm. And and and... try their stick date pudding. It is awesome. Oh, I miss you, Moo Kau!

Oh, and there's a place called Gourmet Burger Kitchen in the saaame area (I mean, everything delicious is compacted to a handful of streets, right?). They have a handful of great veg options (or maybe their whole menu is an option, depending on how you look at it -- you choose the meat or non-meat and then find a burder with the fixin's you like) and amazing organic beers. Here, look at the bottom: http://www.gbk.co.uk/menu/burgers/

brighton is the most vegan friendly place in england so everywhere has vegan friendly stuff and there are lots of veggie only places. as for london you absolutely must go to saf, which is all vegan, very fancy and lots of innovative raw stuff. my favourite restaurant is manna in primrose hill, loads of vegan options. the 222 is fantastic. for lunch/cheaper options, food for thought is great as is neal's yard salad bar.

please try to remember that this community is for cooking, not for restaurants. we have locations tags, but that's mostly for finding ingredients and stuff in grocery stores etc.

this post can stay (since there are quite a few responses) but please remember this for the future.

(a better place for this post would have been veganpeople or veganism

sorry, you're totally right. I sometimes just confuse this place with general vegan stuff. I'll remember for next time!

To keep this relevant, Joi in London have their own cooking classes, on a Sunday I believe.

When in Brighton you MUST go to http://www.terreaterre.co.uk/ , it is the best veggie restaurant I've ever been to. They also have a cookbook, but it is very fancy and the recipes take forever to make.

I highly recommend "Vita Organic" in London - their buffet is divine! It's in the West End, just off Wardour Street ;]
