Use it. Oil is used to preserve stuff all the time. I can't see how it's bad, unless it's BEEN open all the time. Personally I've used bottles of oil for years on years. :)

Oh, righto. I was at least figuring it would last somewhat longer than the use by date! I think if it tastes okay (as someone suggested below) then it should probably be fine to use?

I tend to go by the common sense approach 1. saving money and 2. preserving my health!
So - taste it, and use it. :) IF you should feel sick, don't use it. You probably will not die from slighty old olive oil, and I believe it should be just fine. Good luck.

Nope, it was stored in my mothers larder with the door closed most of the time.

Oil can go rancid, so just try it. If it tastes fine, you're good to go.

Okay I might give it a taste then today. It looks perfectly fine in the bottle and smells as it should.

the general rule with olive oil is that once it goes bad, you know. you can taste and smell the difference.

a smell test should quickly tell you if it is good or not - if it is OK I would keep it in the refrigerator

If you keep olive oil in the refrigerator, it will solidify. Unless you want to use it as a butter-like spread, which is possible.
