Omega-3s (which you can now get in plant-based forms) and B vitamins help some people with depression. The B vits are especially important for vegans (who don't always get enough of all of them from food) and women on hormonal birth control (which can increase your need for them).

Vitamin B12 is particularly important: http://www.vegansociety.com/food/nutrition/b12/

and thyroid problems can cause mental health issues, too.

I second the yoga. I took my first class last spring at my Y, and it really helps with the mental aspect. I think you'll enjoy it!! Activity is a great stress reliever for me, so hopefully your workouts will help you both physically and mentally.

I take a daily high energy multi-vitamin with iron. I take it in the morning with some fruit, before I go to the gym. It makes me feel great for my workouts.

Best of luck to you!

Exercise itself will greatly help with the depression. Also try to get some direct sunlight. Don't overdo it. But take a little break, and read an article in the newspaper, magazine, etc while sitting in a sunny spot. Just 5-10 a day can help a lot with mood.

As to easy meals when its hot, consider a crockpot. They throw very little heat while in use.
