Beans + vinegar = no gas?

I was watching Ready Steady Cook and one of the chefs said that if you mix beans with vinegar (or cook them in vinegar?) they don't give you gas.

Anyone heard of this, or experienced the proof?

I've always found that rinsing them thoroughly after soaking and/or cooking helps. I just dump them into a collander and rinse until the water stops bubbling (at which point I assume the gas is out).

I always add 2 Tbls of vinegar to my beans at about 1 hour before they are done cooking. I use Braggs apple cider, and it works for me no gas no tummy ache... It won't hurt to try this vinegar is good for you....

Vinegar really does help with gas in pinto beans but you add the vinegar after the beans are done. Adding vinegar in the beginning of the cooking process adds too much acid that keeps the beans from getting soft. Add any seasonings such as salt and pepper last, also.
