vegan sweeteners

What's a good vegan alternative to sugar? I want to start experimenting with a lot of baking, but simultaneously cut down on my sugar intake. What's a healthy sweetener I can use? What do you guys use? Thanks.

agave is wonderful. maple syrup is great as well, and i usually use less of it.

if you're looking for something that has no calories, i just got wholesome foods zero (which is Erythritol--but it doesn't cause digestive problems). it's pretty expensive, though.

if you go for xylitol, make sure to keep it and everything you make with it away from any dogs you might know.

If you need to replace brown sugar in a recipe, turbinado sugar is a good alternative. It still comes from sugar cane, but is less processed then regular white sugar. And is easier to find than some other sweetners. Sadly, where I live even true maple syrup is hard to find.
