the sweetness of soymilk...

Feb 07, 2007 21:36

i make vegan sausage gravy and tonight i made vegan mac-n-cheese...both are made with a good amount of soymilk.

both come out very sweet..which is fine, but it would be better if the sweetness was dulled a little.

any ideas as to how to do this? certain spices maybe...i dont use salt, so forget that. advice..puleeze.

thanks y'all!

If you can find unsweetened soymilk, that's great for savoury cooking.

dijon mustard or horseradish are really good in fake cheese sauces, and cover the sweetness of soy milk.

look for a green carton. =) it's the best, it's the only soymilk i use for cooking.

If you're using Silk, try to find the green cartons. That's the organic unsweetened. Wonderful stuff.
