Hi gang. I need to pick your collective brains for a moment on Rice Krispies. To second an idea already posted, they're really good in cookies. There's a cafe in my town, they have the most amazing double chocolate cookies with rice krispies.

I second the comment about crushing them and using them as a replacement for breadcrumbs. It'd probably work with tofu/seitan.. maybe with tofu nuggets? With barbecue sauce? Mmm.

chuveda - a savory indian "party mix"
(from my mom)

1/3 cup canola oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 cup spanish peanuts
1 cup cashew
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
1 tsp turmeric
1 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (can reduce to liking)
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
Rice crispies (13.5 oz. box)

Heat the oil in a big sauce pan over low heat; add cumin and mustard seeds. When mustard seeds start popping, add garlic, raisin and both kinds of nuts. Stir for a minute, then remove from heat and add salt, sugar, pepper and turmeric mix to coat the nuts. Add rice crispies, and keep stirring until all the kernels are coated with salt and have turned yellow.

Cool before storing in airtight container. It will last up to 2 weeks. Do not refrigerate.

They're my boy band. I'm sure you've heard their hit tune "Meow, It's Dinner Time."

We use Rice Krispies to add bulk to our casseroles. About 1 to 2 cups, depending on what size dish you use.
