i think so! the only difference between them is the size of each flake (my instant oatmeal didn't have anything added). so you could probably cook the oat mixture for a minute before baking. or baking a while longer might just work :)

Anything that bursts out of its container, ESPECIALLY CANS is to be treated like a fucking biohazard unless you are 100% positive why it happened. I'd take back the jar of molasses and explain what happened.

You definitely got a bad can.

When I buy the stuff, I buy it in a bottle and keep it in the fridge.
Good blackstrap molasses isn't sour, but it has a very bitter taste with only a little sweetness. Unless a recipe specifically calls for it, you'd do well with a less potent molasses if you want the flavor.

You can't beat blackstrap for a potassium supplement, though. It's cheaper and more potent than any supplement pill.
