"sophisticated" recipes?

i am holding a recital at my house in about a month, and would like it to be an elegant and sophisticated occasion! the recital will be in the evening, at 8 PM, so people will probably have eaten dinner by then, but i'd still like to serve some food (cuz food is awesome!). does anyone know of any "sophisticated" recipes? like the vegan equivalent ( Read more... )

most thing from this page, espcially the truffles, are killer and "sophisticated": http://www.cok.net/feat/valentines.php .

a friend also made some walnut-stuff dates, wrapped in dried mango, served skewered on toothpicks for some queer mixer--it sounded great, and it would have been great had the dates been a little better and the dried mango not been from trader joes.

ps: last year looks terrific!

I don't have anything to offer, other than fruit and vegetable platters are always awesome and they're so colorful! I like the way you arranged yours last year.

Instead of pasta salad, maybe a Moroccan tabouleh?

You may also want to consider dolmades or veggie/tofu stuffed phyllo appetizers.
