yes, I made mine into larger patties than I've seen anywhere else because I think they'd be good in sandwich/burger form. you could always tear them up if you wanna fit them into a pita or top something with them.
There's a falafel place where I live in DC (Amsterdam Falafel) that has all kinds of awesome toppings. One of these days I'm going to have to bribe one of the chefs for some recipes.
Actually, there are some days when I feel that falafel should be its own food group.
